A few minutes after his coronation to the Golden Ball 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo confessed to the press that he had considered making his return to Manchester United.
This summer, it was a series of twists and turns: the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. Announced by some editors, the Portuguese international has subsequently signed an extension of its lease, to the delight of Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid. But a few moments after raising the second golden ball of his career, the native of Funchal returned to the events of last August.
Cristiano Ronaldo thought of making his comeback in the Mancunians. “I thought about it,” he said to some journalists in the FA media. “Manchester United is still in my heart.” This is a club where I played for six years and I love it. I have a lot of friends there and I wish them the best. (…) It is true that Rio (Ferdinand, ed.) has spoken a lot with me. He was a very good friend of mine and we were neighbors when I lived there. He’s a fantastic guy and he’s done everything I can to change my mind.
